Community-Based Organizations (CBO)

Pasadena City College, Foster Kinship

Under our Prop 47 grant, we have contracted with Pasadena City College Foster Kinship to provide case management services to individuals in our target population who are in foster care or homeless, including temporary housing for individuals who age out of the foster care system.

Students who are aging out of the foster care system are some of our most vulnerable youth. We’ve identified the Pasadena City College’s Foster Youth Program as a Prop 47 intervention, to bridge the gap between foster care and self-reliance. Their foster youth program includes: the STARS program, which is designed to assist former foster youth to transition successfully from care to college. STARS supports and empowers young people in achieving academic success, and a measure of self-sufficiency. Additionally, their Foster and Kinship Care Education program will provide courses and workshops for caregivers of foster youth to obtain and renew their licensing. These courses are dedicated to helping caregivers in meeting the educational, emotional, behavioral and developmental needs of the youth for whom they are caring.
