The Department deploys four Deputy Probation Officers to work on PUSD campuses serving students who are on formal and informal probation. The DPOs perform prevention and intervention activities (Check-in/Check-out, mentoring) as well as suppression activities. Deputy Probation Officers work closely with individuals on their caseloads to refer students to: Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse Counseling, Job skills training, readiness and placement services, and case management services to address each individual’s specific need (housing, community service, restitution). The Department works with a multi-disciplinary team (law enforcement, juvenile courts, attorneys, probation, and school personnel) to identify and prioritize the target population and identify needed services for each individual.
